When do you need aluminum sealing tapes
The substrate of joints, building and construction code requirements or indoor/outdoor usage, eventually drive what sealing tape will be most suitable for what situation.

Sealing tape in Action
The thick silicone release paper liner facilitates easy-removal. The liner can optionally be precut (kiss-cut) so that the liner “breaks” which saves valuable time and frustration for the applicator. The UL code (either UL 181A-P and UL 181B-FX Listed) can be printed on foil, so that it remains visible once applied. Ideal Seal 2000 has a limited 20-year warranty.
What are UL certified tapes and when are they needed
In order to receive a UL 181 listing, tapes that are used to seal air duct and air connectors, are subjected to a battery of tests, including: Flame Resistance, Mold Growth & Humidity, Temperature, Static Load, Impact, Pressure, Collapse, Tension, Torsion and Leakage Test. This testing determines if an HVAC tape will be able to receive a UL listing. The two most commonly used HVAC tapes are UL 181A-P and UL 181B-FX.
